The End is Near

For those uninformed (fortunate) people who don't shop at Safeway, I will provide a bit of background information. Safeway has a brilliant scheme where they advertise products like golf clubs, watches, VTech phones etc. using little game cards that they stuff into your shopping bag along with your receipt. The trick is that it's impossible to actually win anything. It's frustrating, because there is this little card with paper flaps that beg to be opened, but offer only disappointment underneath. It's rather like Safeway's produce. On the surface it looks good, but is a big let down.
The most mundane and yet extrordinary unlikely and unexepected thing happened to me today. Today everything changed. I won a prize in Safeway's Lucky Break contest. See the photographic proof below.
In the top panel, you will notice 3 little photos of $10 Safeway gift cards. If will take a while for this to sink in for seasoned Safeway shoppers. It is not an optical illusion. This is an actual winning game card. I now have a tough decision to make. Do I frame the gift card or do I exchange it for what might amount to a couple of crappy meals worth of food? I don't have a spare frame, but I suppose I could always use the frame with my university degree in it. I don't want to give the impression that a university degree isn't worth anything, but think about it. How many people do you know who have university degrees? Now, how many people do you know who have won anything from Safeway game cards? I think the choice is clear.
